.... have to use their own cars to drive to their beat do not get a mileage allowance, have to pay for parking while working, and have to face "appalling and disgraceful" abuse from members of the public.

Who does that remind me of?

I might just have to blog on this myself. There are so many issues.

1. Are they insured to use their cars for work?

2. Why do they think they should park for free when everyone else has to pay. It's not as if they cannot use public transport and then their employers would have to get them to their beats.

3. I cannot see the general public being overly sympathetic.

4. Council workers getting free parking? That would be a perk and one that shouldn't be available to anyone other than ESSENTIAL car users.

5. Can I get extra for being abused daily? Though no-one deserves such treatment and I do not condone it.
