General's attack on Home Front

General Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief of the General Staff has said that compared to the likes of the USA and Canada we treat our serving and retired personnel shamefully. He suggests that the British people must do more to recognise and celebrate the work of the UK military, the head of the army said yesterday, warning of a "growing gulf" between the military and the nation.

This is already being seen with the government and their shabby treatment of our personnel (see Honour the Covenant) and because of the lead they have given, some of the general public, are beginning to see the personnel serving in the forces and veterans as somehow shameful, either because of the type of War they are engaged in or because of their health problems.

We must honour our Forces Personnel because they have given voluntarily their service to our country and deserve the respect and gratitude of all the people living here in freedom.

By the way the picture is of my much missed Dad when he was working on Bloodhound Missiles in the early 80's
