ComRes Poll give Tories Lead in ALL regions.

ConHome reports new ComRes poll with Tory lead the same as last poll but both Labour and Tory down 5%. One significant point is that The Conservatives lead Labour among all regions and social groups – including Scotland.

Further to the results of tonight's BPIX poll for tomorrow's Mail on Sunday, there is also tonight a new ComRes poll, to be published in tomorrow's Independent on Sunday. The Conservative lead is constant at 19%, but both major parties are down five points in the wake of the daily revelations about MPs' expenses, meaning that Labour hits another new low in ComRes polling history. The figures are:

Con - 40% (-5%)
Lab - 21% (-5%)
LD - 18% (-)

Meanwhile, combined "Others" are at 21%, up nine points.

Comparisons are with the ComRes/Independent poll published at the end of April and these new figures compute into a Conservative Commons majority of 140, according to the UK Polling Report Swing Calculator.

Some other statistics to be pulled out from the poll:

  • The Conservatives lead Labour among all regions and social groups – including Scotland;
  • 88% of people who voted Conservative in 2005 will vote Conservative now; 58% of people who voted Labour in 2005 say that they will vote Labour now; 69% of people who voted Lib Dem in 2005 will now vote Lib Dem; whilst 18% of people who voted Labour in 2005 will now vote for a minor party;
  • 15% of Labour voters and 11% of Lib Dem voters in 2005 are Tory voters now;
  • Only 37% of Labour identifiers are absolutely certain to vote, compared with 45% of LDs and 64% of Conservative identifiers.
  • 43% of people agree they are "very likely" to vote for one of the minor parties, such as the Green Party or UKIP, at the European elections;
  • 46% agree that "most MPs are honest and have been let down by the greed of a minority", whilst 50% disagree with that proposition;
  • 59% agree that David Cameron has dealt with the issue of MPs’ expenses better than Gordon Brown (31% disagree).

Tory lead at 22% in new BPIX poll - Labour on 20%

Remarkable figures in the new BPIX poll for tomorrow's Mail on Sunday. This is probably Labours lowest poll since proper polling began back in 1945. Gordon Brown whatever he says tomorrow in the News of the Screws has yet again been seen to be an appalling and dithering leader.

On Westminster voting intention, the figures are:

Con - 42%
Lab - 20%
LD - 15%

Labour have melted.

Other figures

On voting intention for the European Parliament election, the figures are:

Con - 30%
UKIP - 17%
Lab - 17%
LD - 15%

On other questions related to the expenses scandal:

  • 17% think that Gordon Brown has handled the problem well, compared with a 53% rating for David Cameron;
  • 91% per cent agree with David Cameron's ruling that Tory MPs who have abused their expenses and refuse to pay it back will be expelled from the party;
  • 77% think Gordon Brown has handled the issue badly, against 39% for David Cameron;
  • 38% think that Gordon Brown should dissolve Parliament immediately and call an election; 16% want him to wait until the last possible moment in June 2010.

BPIX interviewed 2,318 people between the 14th and 16th May.

Shocking ComRes Poll for Labour

A ComRes poll in tomorrows Independent will show the following

CON 45(+5) LAB 26(-2) LD 17(-1)

What more is there really to say. Labour are falling apart at the seams. The Lib Dems who you think would manage something better are also dropping. The Tories are looking forward to a massive majority based on these polls. It cannot come soon enough.

ComRes report record Tory lead

Comres has Tories on 46 Labour on 25% and Libs on 18%. Lead of 21%.

Mike Smithson on PB.Com says
A key element in the detail and one of the reasons why the poll is so good for Cameron’s party is that 74 per cent of Tory supporters say they are “absolutely certain” to vote. This compares with 58 per cent of the Labour supporters and 50 per cent of the LDs. As Andrew Hawkins of ComRes points out: “The Tories are ahead of Labour amongst every age and social group and in every region except Scotland.”
Another wonderful anniversary present for Gordon!

Tories at record 20-year high in ICM Poll in Guardian

According to the ICM poll in the Guardian

Gordon Brown faces a damning verdict from voters ahead of his first anniversary in power. It suggests that his prime ministership has been a disappointment: 74% of those questioned say that he has been a change for the worse compared with Tony Blair, and only 24% think Labour has a chance of winning the next election while he remains leader.
Headline figures are Con 45 (+4) Lab 25(-2) Lib 20(-2).

This should put to bed the thoughts that what David Davis is doing will be bad for the Conservatives. The cowardly decision , yet again, by Gordon Brown has backfired on him as usual.

One other quote from the Poll as follows
Voters also think Brown has failed personally as prime minister. Asked to rate his performance on a scale of one to 10, voters give Brown only 3.94 on average. Almost a quarter, 23%, give him a one.
You would laugh but this is a desperate time for our country with this truly inept man in charge. He has become a joke and we must get rid of him to allow this country to get back to be where it belongs in the world.

Desperate reading for Gordon as he comes up to his anniversary, but will he get the message and get the Pickfords van in.

Jonah Brown hits New Low

I don't often post on Polls but this one makes for some interesting reading if you are not a Labour supporter (and there are now fewer of them than ever).

In just one short year our "Jonah" has taken a Labour party to it's lowest level of support since polling began. A superb achievement that merits some sort of reward, can I perhaps suggest early retirement and disappearing back to Fife to reflect on his legacy to us.

Perhaps the most interesting bits of the Poll are as follows:

  • 75% of people survey were dissatisfied with Gordon Brown as prime Minister
  • 60% of those polled thought that even replacing "Jonah" wouldn't help Labour. 32% thought it might. Jonah has contaminated Labour to the voters.
  • With a forced choice over Conservatives and Cameron and Labour under Brown the Tories lead by 54% to 29%.
  • The Lib Dems are stuck in nowhere land with 18%. They really should be challenging Labour by now.
  • Brown’s personal popularity on a par with Major’s low.
  • Labour’s lowest score under Foot was only 23.5
In a further article in the Telegraph, Anthony King, professor of government at the University of Essex, makes the point that there is now no way back for Gordon Brown. He says
Most of the electorate has now fallen so far out of love with Gordon Brown and New Labour that a divorce between the two seems all but certain to be finalised at the next general election.The findings of YouGov's latest survey for The Daily Telegraph suggest the break-up could be an angry no-holds-barred affair. The chances of a reconciliation look slim.
All in all a very satisfying poll for the Tories. As Nick Palmer Labour MP so elequently put it on Political Betting:
Brrrr!
Need I say more.

Big Feartie trails Tories by biggest deficit in 15 Years

The big Feartie will be in more trouble now as his Government goes from bad to worse. he is now presiding over a government with the biggest deficit to the Tories in 15 years. The last time the Tory lead was this high was before Black Wednesday, which says much for his leadership and "Vision".

The Poll from October 10/11 will be a bitter pill for Gordon to swallow after a bad bad week for him.

UPDATE: Must correct this entry. This is not the biggest lead for the Tories(they had a bigger lead as recently as March) but the highest level of support they have had in 15 years. This is probably even better than a big lead as I suspect that Labour still has a few points to fall.

Go forth and Vote!

How to Vote in WAKHow to vote in West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine

The Herald has published details of a Telegraph poll by YouGov perhaps the only poll that forecast the last elections results in Scotland accurately. According to the Herald

A YouGov poll for The Daily Telegraph today gives the SNP a six-point lead over Labour in the constituency vote, with 37% against 31%, with Tories 13%, LibDems 14% and others 5%. The regional vote has the parties on SNP 32%, Labour 27%, Tories 13%, LibDems 10%, Greens 9% and others 9%.

The paper said those figures translated into seats would give the SNP 45 over Labour's 39.

I popped these results into my favourite calculator over at Scotland Votes and they gave the SNP one more seat.

What is even more apparent from these figures is that every vote will count for the first time in a Scottish election. The proportional outcome is expected to see a radical shift in the distribution of power across the nation's council chambers.

So remember how to vote correctly. A good example is shown below.

And finally good luck to Stewart, Bruce and Marcus for today!
